Our beautiful new cushion kits are perfect for those that love to sew or want to take up sewing.
This cushion kit is a beautiful traditional Hunters star design created by Davinder printed on 100% cotton. The colours are so rich and vibrant like a work of art in textiles. Full of pretty bright modern original prints this is such an eye catching design.
The kit can be hand quilted or machine quilted on any modern sewing machine that has the drop griped feed feature. We used a free-motion quilting foot for our panels but a free motion embroidery foot would also work. But as this design is all straight lines a regular sewing machine is absolutely fine on a normal straight stitch, just be sure to tack the whole thing in place carefully with plenty of pins or tacking thread. Unlike free motion embroidery where things can get a little tangled the free motion quilting is so much fun it’s easy to do because the structure of the wadding and muslin give great stability and its so relaxing once you get going. You literally follow the outline of the star to create the quilting effect making you look like a master patch worker. We won’t tell anyone!!
The finished cushion size is 45x45cm (18”x18”) and creates a snug cushion fit we don’t like a baggy cushion.
kit contains :
instructions, beautiful original fabric printed panel, wadding, muslin, and Navy cotton backing fabric. Packaged up in our lovely new Madaher sturdy brown paper kit bags.
*cushion pad NOT included. *quilters hoop NOT included.
We suggest a variation of machine sewing thread NOT INCLUDED in the kit as we know so many people already have lots of thread options in their sewing boxes. choice of colours is really up to you, just have a lot of fun with them.
This is a great sewing project a simple cushion square we show you how to make it without any openings or fuss. If you are a little more advance then you can add a zip opening but since this is such a decorative cushion we use a tacked closed method and think it works brilliantly.
Our other creative suggestion is you can obtain a large 14” quilters hoop and quilt the design to display on the wall as a piece of art you can use the navy backing fabric to enclose the back. We’ll have some examples of this coming up on our Instagram, so keep a look out. You can also add extra dimension with embroidery.
